Re: Pushaw
Here's what I found online at RootsWeb and from a geneology buddy of mine:Pushaw is the Americanization of the French surname, Pochard. After emigrating to the U.S., it appears as if a French family had their name altered at Ellis Island, which was a common occurance. Many of the immigration officers changed surnames either because they couldn't spell the name in the original language or the family wanted to "sound" more American.Hope that helps!

Thanks! That's really helpful.
