The immigrants SELVA in USA from 1890 up to 1920 are mostlly Italians: they come especially from Northern Italy: the area of Lake COMO (50km North from MILANO) the province of UDINE in the North-East
and then from the area of BOLOGNA, namely From LIZZANO IN BELVEDERE.
Exremely rare are the Selva from Sicily. But this surname exists also in Spain and France.
SELVA could come from a nickname of a person who works as a wood-cutter or a nickname of a person that come from a place called:
Selve or Selves in France, Selva in Italy and so on.
