Re: last name SARNEY
Is this a British surname? I've found no reference to it apart from an entry in a genealogical directory which informs that the name was in Oxford pre-1900.
The nearest to Sarney I've found is Sarne, a Jewish surname from a Lithuanian place-name.

Correction: having surfed the web I find references to a Sarney family in Gloucestershire, early 16th century; also in Oxfordshire, 16th century. Still don't know what it means though. Perhaps a place-name ending in -ey, "island."
