A fashion model with this surname is originally from Bender, Moldova. The name is very uncommon and doesn't sound ethnically Moldovian (Romanian) to me. Does anyone know if this name may be of Gurguaz or other origins?

This is a Russian surname. Meaning: heelless.

Moldova is a multi-ethnic country. In the straight sense, Moldovian surnames can be also Romanian (Valachia + Moldova => Romania).
