According to my surname book, Huie is actually a variant of the Gaelic Mac Giolla Dhuibh meaning "son of the blackhaired boy". Seems to be a progression like Mac Giolla Dhuibh -> McGilduff -> McIlghuie -> McAhuie -> Huie.

Shelnutt, I do not know.
