The Tatman family is in abundance in the southeastern part of Ohio. The most populated TATMAN families seem to be in the small towns of Laurelville, Adelphi,Tarlton,Circleville, and that area. circleville sits 30 miles south of Columbus. The other little towns are south east of it.
I have searched for the origin of this name but can't seem to find it ANYWHERE!!! Can you help?

English surname, identifying someone as Tate's servant. I don't know if Tate here is a given name, which it was, or a surname, which it was and is.
