1) what does this surname mean?
and 2) from where does it orginate?

In Italy this surname iscurrently written La Face too. It comes from the sanme area ass Laface.

I reckon this is Italian and was originally Laface, which is said to be from the Greek and to mean "small deer".

laface is mainly a Calabrian surname, I agrre with the interpretation.

In French, 'the face', but it seems kinda unlikely coz everyone is saying its Italian
