What do you know about Fry?
My maiden name Fry, is somewhat common or so it seems. I'm not sure, however, if what I've been told by my family about my name is correct. I was told it was German. And that is was originally pronounced VRY in Germany but changed to be "Americanized." I was told it was also spelled Vry, but something tells me that is wrong. I heard another German surname, Wagner, is pronounced Vagner in Germany. Who's to say, Fry wasn't originally spelled Wry?Does anyone know if this is true - or - better yet - where I could look up the background to verify whether or not it's true?

Here's some info on Fry's meaning:http://www.ancestry.com/facts/fry-name-meaning.ashx?fid=10&ln=Frei&fn=&yr=1920&And here's where the 'Vry' explanantion may come from:
