Waldroup
I was wondering if anyone knew the origin/meaning of the name Waldroup. I've found very little information about it. One site said that it was of Scottish origin. The name is spelled in many different ways. Thanks, :)

It is from Old Norman French "garder or warder" meaning "to watch" and robe. Therefore the surname derives from the keeper of the royal wardrobe. http://www.geocities.com/hlwaldrop/surname.html

Looks a bit like the Dutch surname Waldorp (toponym; it means wall + village).
