Meaning of Samolyk? by Dragon_Clarinet |
Almost certainly Polish, though in that language spelt with a barred L that's pronounced differently, like a W.
There are several Polish surnames beginning Samol, e.g., Samolak, Samolik; sometimes the L is regular, sometimes barred. I'm pretty sure that the name is a patronymic from the given name Samuel.
