I've never heard of this name, but I learn that it is English, Southern England apparently. I can find no explanation, but wonder if it might have developed from the name Missett, very rare nowadays. If so the next question is, what does Missett mean? Again no answer is forthcoming, so I'll just offer the suggestion that it's the same as the French surname Misset, which is from a Northern French place name, Musset.
Not very happy about any of the above, but it's a starting point.
