Katznelson
I'm looking for the origin and meaning of Katznelson. The origin from my research perhaps could be Jewish, but that is just a guess. Perhaps it could have other origins as well, like German. I have no idea of the meaning, looks like a combination of the names Katz and Nelson, but I don't know if this has anything to do with the meaning.

I feel much better now.
Maybe the moderator will come along and clean up our

Since we can't have the option to do it ourselves.Looks like you've got a really hard name to get info for as well.
Good luck!Regards < Jeff

Apparently an altered form of Katzenellenbogen, a place name "in the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau". My source for this ("The Oxford Names Companion") adds that Katz(e)nelson is "... sometimes assumed by bearers to be from Katz, with the addition of Nelson ... during or after the Napoleonic wars in honour of the English admiral Lord Nelson, but this is no more than folk etymology."
