Hi guys. I was just wondering if anybody knows the meaning behind the Polish surname "Karczewski"? It may also be known as "Karczewska". Thanks!

Your surname comes from the polish word "Karcz" that means "stub" or "stump" of a tree. There are in Poland different places called Karczew or Karczewo. So the surname indicates a person coming from one of these places.
