Abbaticchio
This is what I know about the surname Abbaticchio so far:Abbaticchio is a surname of Italian origin. The first part, Abbat, comes from the Latin word Abbas which means "priest" or "abbot." It should be noted that, alone, "Abbat" may be of English/Irish origin, so this last name could have come from a family with both English/Italian roots. Or not. I might be stretching there. The second part of the name, icchio, may be derived from the Latin "iculus" (as in the word ridiculous, which in Latin is spelled as ridiculus). That's as far as I've gotten, for now, because I have no idea what iculus means. It could be related to oculus, which means "eye", but I'm not certain. What do you know about this name? Am I accurate, or way off? What does it mean?

Abbaticchio is derived from Ab(b)ate whose origin you'll find at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Abate-family-history.ashx. Latin -iculus (> Italian -icchio) is a diminutive suffix.
