Miedecke - a mystery name!
Hello,Various relatives and I have been trying without luck to trace the ethnic origin, meaning, and also the age of our surname "Miedecke" for years. We're finding it extremely difficult, as every single person in the world with this surname are all part of the one extended family - one branch in Germany, one in the USA, and one in Australia. We know that our common ancestor lived in Germany, and we came across info that the name might be Lusatian (Also known as Wendish or Sorbian), but we have no real info or evidence.I'm desperate to know the origin, meaning and age of our surname, so anyone with any ideas at all, please help me out!Thank you.

The family originally came from Hamburg in Germany. The Australian side is planning a reunion in Western Samoa in June of 2011. Most of our information about the family name only goes back to the Prussian time of Germany.
Most of tis you may already know, but if you are interested in the family reunion you can contact us at mjkjmiedecke@hotmail.com
