Yes, it is mostly accepted that the surname "Kendall" (and its other spelled variants) originate with the village of KENDAL in Cumbria/Westmorland. I have read though that the origins of the place name and subsequent surname might in fact be Norse.The Kendall surname is quite common in and around the village of Marnhull, Dorset, England. A John Kendall from Marnhull emigrated to the Hermitage Bay area of Newfoundland sometime during the 1830s and later settled in Ramea, Nfld. in the late 1840s, where many of his descendants hail from.
