Subject: surname origin
Author: HACKER   (guest, 75.221.228.1)

Hacker is of German origin and often Jewish origin. Hacker also has connection to England, but falls into the Acree, Acre, etc trees. See: http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/Kolomea/nameorigin.htm

Hacker is field workers, plower, wood cutter, etc origin. Which makes since as that history lists in census reports...farmer-farmer-farmer.

Hope that helps.
