Caravaggio is a town near Bergamo That now has a population of about 16,000 people. The population is increasing because european and non european
immigrants. The name of this bergamasque toww could come from a pre-latin word "CARUS" that means "stone". In lombard dialects we find words like "CRAP" and "CORNA" that have similar stem. The name of Carvaggio in local bergamasque dialect is "Careàs", almost the same stem "care..."
