Vanvalkenburg is Dutch and it consists of van and valkenburg, meaning "from Valkenburg". Valkenburg is a place in the South province Limburg in the Netherlands. It means "falcon borrough" from the Dutch words valk and burg/burcht. Lotz is Dutch, from the German surname Lütze, a diminutive of the suffix Ludwig.
