anyone knows the meaning ofthese famous surnames? (one is Polish, the other, I don't know)

Skłodowska is the feminine form of Skłodowski which is derived from Skłody, the name of several places in Poland. Curie is a French name whose origin is uncertain.

thanks, I was guessing it was a female surname, but not whether it was based on a job or a place.
