Re: MANKIW's origin and meaning

Mankiw is a Ukrainian name (Ме́нк'ю). The origin could be the placename Man’kiv in Ukraine but that's just a guess.

Mańkiewicz is a Polish surname, meaning son of Mańka, a diminutive form of Maria. -iw is the Ukrainian equivalent of Russian -ov. Might Mankiw be a surname with the same meaning as Mańkiewicz?
