a lost romainan name...
my grandmmother was born in romania, her name sounds something like pierce-ka-piscu (phonetically, ive only heard it, never seen it in print). when her family immigrated to america early in her childhood, customs changed it to peirce because that was easier to say than the whole thing. since i dont know how to spell it, i cant find it to either learn about my linage or know the meaning of it. can anyone help me please? it really would mean a lot to me since my grandmother has since past in the last couple of years.

I'll take a guess ... the ending is typical of Romanian names, I believe usually signifying 'son of' of something similar ...like all languages ...the beginning sounds like a form of Peter, which means "rock" obviously if you familiar with words like 'petro' which also have a Latin base ...hope I'm right ...but it's my best guess!

It could be PETRESCU or perhaps PAUDRESCU.
In Romanian Peter is PETRE.
