i have three surnames - which, being portuguese, is not a rare thing.
portuguese babies are given the mother's surname as well as the father's surname. quite often, the maternal and/or paternal grandmother's surname is also given. confusing?not really:
isabel margarida (my middle names)tranquada (my maternal grandmother's surname)gomes(my mother's maiden name) de ornelas(my father's surname).
