Clare Mary Gertrude Young Negrini (1930–2006) was a Chicago woman who fell in love with an Italian Catholic priest, moved to Italy to be with him in 1951, and renounced U.S. citizenship in a bid to avoid deportation. The two married at the end of that year, resulting in their excommunication; they eventually emigrated from Italy to the United Kingdom before finally settling in Mexico. Negrini later moved back to the United States, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Vincenzo Negrini (born Vincenzo Bartolomeo Trentanove) (24 August 1804 – 16 August 1840) was an Italian bass-baritone opera singer. He was the second of the four children of Luigi Trentanove and Maria née Negrini from whom he later took his stage name.
Carlo Negrini (24 June 1826 in Piacenza – 14 March 1865 in Naples) was an Italian spinto tenor and creator of Gabriele Adorno in Verdi’s opera "Simon Boccanegra". Born as Carlo Villa to a humble family in Piacenza, Negrini studied first in the Regia Scuola di Musica and then in Parma. A sponsor made it possible for him to study in Milan with Bartolomeo Prati. The impresario Angelo Boracchi advised him to change his name to Carlo Negrini, claiming it will bring him luck.
