Surname common in Australia & the UK. A variation of Lambshead which was originally a mis-spelling of Lambside which was the area from which the family originated in Pommyland. Other variations include Lambshed, Lamshead, Lammyside and Lamesta. It was not unusual for one family to have multiple spellings in the official record. A recording in the the Church of Pommyland at Ilsington (UK) noted one William Lambshead with children using three variations of the surname.
