Very common, and popular, but classic. My cat, Panzer, was orginally named Mary Claire. We changed it because we didn't think Mary Claire fit a battled-scarred cat who has occasional fits of insanity.

I think the names complement each other very, very well. But I agree with others that Mary Claire would've been better as just Claire.
