[Opinions] Mabel
Mabel is a strong contender for the new babies name, probably my favourite but husband prefers Persephone, Evangeline or Ophelia.
Any good mn's for Mabel? We like Jean, Violet, Ivy, Victoria and Florence. In your opinion is Mabel popular for babies, do you know any? Please give me your honest opinions on it. Also whilst i am not seriously considering it (at all) is it ok to name your daughter Lolita? It is on my friends list? Lola is sweet, but still, has she never read that book?

Persephone, Evangeline, and Ophelia are all lovely names, but seem a bit too fanciful for a real baby/person.Mabel, on the other hand, is sweet but strong, and definitely ready for a comeback. I don't really like Victoria or Florence with Mabel, but Mabel Ivy, Mabel Violet, and Mabel Jean are all lovely- Violet, especially. Some others:Mabel Rose
Mabel Pearl
Mabel Anne
Mabel Hope (I love this one!)
Mabel Justine
Mabel Louise
Mabel Estelle
Mabel Fiona
Mabel Iris
Mabel Susanna / Mabel Susannah
Mabel AugustaMabel is not popular at all where I live, for babies or adults. As for Lolita, I think that Lola is nice, and both Lola and Lolita are nice enough as nns for Delores (which I don't like, mainly because of the meaning). In America, at least, however, Lolita would provoke a LOT of teasing.Shannon

M(others) A(lways) B(ring) E(xtra) L(ove)Isn't that sweet? Mabel is definitely not popular in my area, but I have always been fond of the name and I think Mabel Victoria is nice. As for Lolita & Lola (which I kind of like), I'd never use them because of their sexual connotations but if she really likes Lola, what about Delores with the nn Lola or similar ones like Lila / Lyla (my fav of these) or Laila or Leila?

I don't care for Mabel. I remember as a child going to a petting zoo, and a pig was named Mabel. Sorry, but I don't care for Persephone, Evangeline, or Ophelia, either. I do like Jean and Victoria. Victoria Mabel is OK. And, no, I don't think Mabel is at all popular.Just because a radical book was entitled Lolita, doesn't mean the name itself is risque. Anyway, I don't care for it, and I like Lola as a formal name.

Mabel Victoria is beautiful! :) That gets my vote- or if your husband must have it, Mabel Evangeline. I don't know any women named Mabel, young or older. I don't think it's buzzing, so you are clear! I don't like Lola or Lolita as a child's name. HTH!
