This was my great-grandfather's name. I don't care for it and wouldn't use it at all.

I like the old-fashioned feel of it, but not so much the sound. I actually prefer Ulyssa, the feminine form, in sound. It also doesn't remind me of Ulysses Grant too much, probably because I'm not all that interested in America's presidents (I'm far more interested in royalty!).

However, I wouldn't use the name because of the very negative meaning: possibly "to hate" in Greek.

Its okay. I went to school with a guy named Ulysses, he went by Uly (You-lee) as a nn.

While I do like the name, I'd one use it if my son would have a really short & more common last name like Grant :), Smith, or Scott.

I think of Ulysses Grant when I hear that name. I personally would never use it. It's just not my style.

Not awful, but I would never give a name like this to one of my kids (teasing material).

I don't care for it. Besides the image of the President, I see a fish for some reason. Maybe I named one of my goldfish Ulysses when I was younger.
