[Opinions] Betsy.
I have completely fallen in love with this nickname. I know its bound to come back, too. It just feels so sweet, and young. I'd only use it as a nickname for Elizabeth. So, opinions? Siri

eh...It sounds very young and babyish to me. Betsy Wetsy springs to mind immediately.I went to highschool with a girl named Betsy... and she had a whiny baby voice and was fairly annoying... so I am probably biased!

Like it. I've been thinking of it too.

I *heart* Betsy. It's a great nn for Elizabeth, probably the best one.~ Arcadia

As a nickname it is quite sweet but only for a child

A friend of mine is actually dating a girl named Betsy. She's around 16 too.I was suprised when I first heard her name, thinking it was a bit outdated. But I think it could work.BTW, I also know an Elizabeth that goes by Betty

As a formal name, I don't care for it. I really don't see it as a nickname for Elizabeth, which I like. But, I don't think nicknames should be planned by the parents, or formal names planned around a nickname.I always think of Betsy Ross.

DHs favourite girl's name is Elizabeth. I mentioned the other day that if we use it for a girl, I'd want to call her Betsy as a nn. I don't think I can print his response on here!

I knew a Betsy when I was younger she is around my age now (21) and it always suited her just fine. Her full name was Betsy though. She was cheerful and upbeat all the time. I think it would be a fine nn for Elizabeth.

Betsy is one of my favorites, either on its own or as a nickname for Elizabeth. It's one of those older names that I think would sound great on someone young.

It's better than Betty imo, but I really don't like it, sorry :)

I prefer the nn. Betsy for the name Betsaida (pr. bet-SIE-da). As a given name its not that cool.

I really like it but it's in the same catagory as Katie (should only be used on kids) so i'd make sure I used her formal name as well so she could be referred to as Elizabeth (or Eliza etc)when she's olderalice x

I still consider it "grandma-ish". Sorry. nm
