I'm working on my family tree again, and I need to know something...
Since Ebba is a pet form of Eadburga, could Abba be a pet form of Alburga? It would explain many strange things in my tree...

It also means "Father" in Aramaic.

Could be, yep

It could also be a diminutive or form of Abigail, Abilene, 'Abla, Abha, Abiah / Abijah, Alberta, etc., or a feminine form of 'Abbas or Alberic.

I'm just throwing out alternative theories here. :-)
