[Facts] Abba -> Alburga
by
Miss Claire

I'm working on my family tree again, and I need to know something...
Since
Ebba
is a pet form of
Eadburga
, could Abba be a pet form of Alburga? It would explain many strange things in my tree...
Thank you!
Claire

It also means "Father" in Aramaic.

Could be, yep
It could also be a diminutive or form of
Abigail
,
Abilene
, '
Abla
,
Abha
,
Abiah
/
Abijah
,
Alberta
, etc., or a feminine form of '
Abbas
or
Alberic
.
I'm just throwing out alternative theories here. :-)
