[Opinions] Judy and Theresa
The name Theresa has been growing on me lately, despite a negative association that I have with it. WDYT of Theresa, probably with the nn Tessa? Do you like any of these combos?Theresa Jane
Theresa Catherine
Theresa VioletWhat others would you suggest?Also- the name Judy. You never, ever see little girls/anyone under 40 named Judith nn Judy. This is my grandmother's name, and I've never really given it much thought until lately, but I do think it's very pretty (her full name is Judith Marguerite nn Judy- I love it) and as of now, I'd consider using it one day. WDYT of Judith nn Judy?Shannon

I love both of these names.Judith has always been a favorite, but I didn't always like Judy. I'm more comfy with Judy, though its still not a favorite. Theresa I love, especially with the nickname Tess.Siri

Theresa seems the 'wrong' age to me, since I grew up with many Theresas myself. I do like it though, especially as Tessa.Judith is a name I have recently added to my own list, and it's pretty high on the list now, too. It seems about 20 years older than Theresa, to me; old enough that I wouldn't feel strange using it myself. So I love it.. and nickname Judy of course :-) - chazda

I think Theresa is gorgeous. I prefer the spelling Teresa but I think that spelling sometimes causes pronounciation difficulties which is why I still like Theresa. I'm not crazy about Tessa but I LOVE Tess, whether as a nn or a full name. I like Theresa Catherine the best.I can give or take Judith. I would never consider it sounds weird and just well not right when I say Judith (same with Meredith). Judy is cute and I could see a little girl named Judy.

My name is Teresa Elizabeth. I never knew another Teresa growing up. I like it now that I am older. I don't like the nicknames though. I pronoune it Teh-REE-sa. Not like Teresa Kerry. I think most people would say Teh-REE-sa. If I go to other countries they say it the other way but since I am an american and not trying to sound exotic or foreign, I say it the normal way. Teresa Heinz Kerry was born out of the country so that is why she says it that way. She is annoying anyway so I would not say it that way.

I prefer teresa, without an h, but basically, I like the name. Theresa Violet is a very nice combo.I really don't like Judith. Judy is OK, but Judit (spelled like this) is extremely popular in Hungary, especially for my age (I have about 4 or 5 Judits in my grade). I'd rather use Julia instead. Judy could be a nn for any Ju- names IMHO.

I absolutely adore Judy as a nickname for Judith. Judith is beautiful and makes me think of the character from The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Judy makes me think of the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Sometimes Young song, "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes." Great song--it's definitely the sort of thing to sing to a little girl.I don't like Theresa at all. Teresa is lovely--it's my mummy's name ;)--but we have an H aversion in my household. I don't like the nickname Tessa for it. In fact, I don't like nicknames for T(h)eresa at all, but that's because my mother only got called nicknames by guys hitting on her, and Terry and Tess irritate her.T(h)eresa Jane is the only one of the three I like that you've listed. The other two seem way too typical at the moment, and the way Violet's being passed around makes it sound like the next Rose. I think that short middle names sound lovely with T(h)eresa.T(h)eresa Jean (very biased towards this)
T(h)eresa Jane
T(h)eresa Beth
T(h)eresa Mary (very Catholic, heh)
T(h)eresa Ann (another very Catholic one)I dunno. It's such a lovely name that it goes with a lot of stuff. I just don't like the image it projects with names like Violet and Catherine.Array

I like the name Therese or Theresa. How do you pronounce it?
I have heard some that say te-RAY-sa and some that say te-REE-sa.
I like te-RAY-sa the best. Bad associations with the second. My grandmother's name is Judith nn Judy. I really like it too, and would like to use it. My mother-in-law (always so helpful) suggested using Juliette or Juliet instead of Judith. (I know they aren't really related)

I prn. Theresa as te-REE-sa. te-RAY-sa is pretty, too, but I've only ever heard it used as the Spanish pronunciation.Shannon

I really like Theresa Violet. Theresa/Therese has been growing on me lately. Judy or Judith is nms. The name just has an ugly sound to me. I prefer Marguerite Judith to Judith Marguerite.

I like the name Teresa (with that spelling). I don't like planning nicknames, but I know a Teresa (19-years-old) who goes by Tess, Tessa, and Tessie. I like Teresa Jane and Teresa Catherine.I don't care for Judy. I know one person named Judith (called Judy), and she is in her 50s. Since it's a family names, I'd say use it as the middle name.
