Amadeo works better in my mind, simply because the film Amadeus saturated American mainstream culture too thoroughly. Amadeo sounds Italian, or at least Latin, but doesn't call nearly so much attention to itself as a foreign name in the way Amadeus suggests the film, the song "Rock Me Amadeus," and Mozart. (edited to add: I guess this impression dates me :-P)
Using names that suggest (to me) a language or culture that I don't feel any connection to isn't often 'my style,' but I think Amadeo's appealing and 'normal' sounding on an American kid even if he's not of Italian descent; it just sounds middle class (not a negative).
