[Opinions] Euoghan
I was watching a baby story today and the woman named her baby Euoghan William. And I am sitting there like, what the hell is that? u-OH-gan, U-ghan, Eugene even? Then they finally said his name as Owen, and I was like ohhh... I figured it was just a made up name, but BTN does has Eoghan as an Irish/ Scottish name (The dad was pure Irish). I personally would have went with Owen, so everybody wouldn't be like, what? when they read it. Let's be real, we live in America, how many people are going to know that's OH-in? JMO~EvaCollette

Yeah, I was confused when I watched it too. I love Owen and would have stuck with that myself, but if they wanted a traditional name it doesn't bother me.

I *love* the name Eoghan (prefer it to Owen), but yeah, it's probably confusing if you're not familiar with it. The first time I heard about it (don't remember where/when but it's not important) I definitely thought it was supposed to be pronounced EH-o-han.

At first, not knowing any history and whatnot, I thought it was a botched spelling of Ewan. But Owen? That kid is going to have some problems growing up, that's for sure.

My first thought was Ewan, too.
I understand wanting to use the original spelling, but when it's terribly confusing and even unrecognizable, it may not be the best choice.
