Was your great-grandfather of Spanish descent? French? English? I see that you're posting from within the United States -- can you tell us which state your great-grandfather settled in, if he or his parents came over as immigrants?-- Nanaea

Knowing that your great-grandfather was of possible French descent helps a lot. I'm going to draw upon my amazing psy-chick energies and take a shot at this by saying that your great-grandfather's name possibly came from the French phrase "de l'or", meaning "of the gold".Alternately, "Delor" could be a diminutive of the surname "DeLorian" (as in John Z. DeLorian, the designer of the futuristic car which he named for himself and which was used in those *Back to the Future* movies). "DeLorian", I believe, means "descendant of Lorian" (i.e. "Laurence"), or even possibly "one who came from Lorraine, France".-- Nanaea
