Emilia is a very nice name, but it is fated to become popular. First it was Emily and Emma, now Amelia, and people will soon use Emilia as well.

I like Emilia - it's much better than Amelia imo - but I can see it getting too popular. Amelia already is, and as people get sicker and sicker of Emily, they'll be looking for variants.

I like it a lot. I lived in Sweden for a year, and Emilia is a fairly common name there. One of my best Swedish friends was named Emilia, so it has positive connotations for me. And much better than Emily or Emma, which are WAY too popular now.

I absolutely LOVE it :-) It's such a beautiful name. I like the Amelia spelling too, but I think that I like Emilia just a little better.ADD: I really love Spanish names, so that's probably why I prefer this spelling. It also reminds me of Emily, which I love, but is probably too popular for me to use.

Its ok. It is the spanish form of Emily so I think that looking at her name on paper she would be mistaken for Spanish. Other than that it is a fine name but plain old Emily or Emma is better.

not necessarily...Emilia is also Italian, I know more Italian people named that than Spanish. And if you look at the charts, it's more popular in Sweden than anywhere else- I've also known an Emilia Braun and Emilia Bradshaw, of English descent, so it's used in all parts. I consider it 'continental' (European).

I don't like it at all. It's too close to Amelia, she would constantly have to correct people on the spelling. The sound is not pleasant to me. There are so many girls named Emily, Elle, Ella, Emma, Lily and soon to be... Lilia, Liliana, Eliana etc... and a thousand other variations that this name, though slightly different, is just too boring imo.

I love it, spelled either way. I think it's very girlish but not too cutesy or frilly.
