[Opinions] Italian name (m)
in reply to a message by atel
And Clara Allegra Byron (1817-1822), illegitimate daughter of Lord Byron and Claire Clairmont. She was also the half-sister of Ada Lovelace by her father, and the stepsister of Mary Shelley (of Frankenstein fame). Allegra's mother had originally called her Alba, but Lord Byron overruled her and renamed their daughter Allegra. When Allegra died, her father was so heartbroken that he never spoke her name again. He died exactly two years to the day after her.The allergy medicine will give way to newer, better drugs. That's the lifecycle of a medicine. In 15-20 years, I bet it'll be a thing of the past.By contrast, Allegra the name is a traditional Italian name that's been used for ages before the medicine. And it'll probably far outlive the medicine too. I think Allegra's a fine name, poetic and strong.Miranda
