I saw this name on growingfamily.com today. IN the comments section a visitor said, "Your baby is cute but what kind of name is Hennessey? answer me that."

Hennessey is alcohol that rappers like Snoop Dogg rap about. It was also the name of my friends granparents dog. Maybe his parents were alcoholics? Or they just really liked Hennessey? It does sound trash to me, but maybe only because of the alcohol connotation?

That's why it sounded familiar. If that's where they got the name from (the liquor) then that is just WRONG. :b

Well there was a boy at my school with that surname. Hennessy (variant) is also a brand of cognac (I think) he was set to inheirit the company.

I don't care for it - whether it's for a boy or a girl. Hennessey is actress Jill Hennessey's surname (not sure of exact spelling, though). I could only stomach it as a middle name for a child if it were a family surname.
