[Facts] The etymology of a surname
Hello,
I've been trying to find inmformation on the surname Reso. I've looked at most geneology sites, and I can't find anything. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? The only information I have is that the person's name is Jason Reso and that he's from Canada. (I know, not much.)
PS: If I could guess, I'd say that his surname was Greek, but I really have no idea.
Thank you,
Chelsea

I already knew all that stuff about him. Thanks anyway, though.
Here are some genealogy sites that mention Reso:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/an/surnames.reso
http://www.geocities.com/mary_lawrie/index3.htm#Reso
The first site implies an Italian origin and a relation to the surname Riso. My reference book lists an Italian surname Risso, which is a Ligurian variant of Ricci, which means "curly-haired".

Thank you so much! LOL He's got straight hair, though. OH well.

It could conceivably be related to the Greek surname Resos, or Rizos, which is derived from "riza" meaning root.
