Kári / Kåre come from the Old Norse word 'kárr' which means "curl" (in the hair)I don't know how old the name is. Kári was used in the Middle Ages and also in modern Icelandic (as well as Kár) and Faroese. The spelling Kåre is the modern form in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. /Satu

For meanings see Kari (look first before you ask next time, thx)I haven't seen Kare before. Karen was used in Denmark in the 16th century for the first time.
