Just to make something clear because people often mix up:The "Judas" of the New Testament had for real name Yehudah.Yehudah is a Biblical name used in the Old Testament too.

Jude. I've been raised on the Beatles, and so whenever I hear this name, I think of "Hey Jude" and smile.

I like Jude the best, and it's actually one of my favorite names. I like the sounds of Judah and Judas but wouldn't use them. Judah sounds almost feminine (I know it's not!) and Judas has that VERY negative connotation attached to it.

Yehudah :)
If not, Judah.

Not Judas cos of that Iscariot guy, not Judah cos I always get it mixed up with Judea and think it's a place, so Jude :)

Processed “cheese”. The word should always, like Soviet “democracy”, be framed in quotes, for no matter what the law may say, I refuse to call this cheese

Jude - of course! :D I like Judah as well but I think Jude is the nicest sounding of the three... Judas I'd avoid, simply because of the Biblical Judas, otherwise it's actually quite a nice name.Sarah

The Biblical character Judas is so prominent that his name is actually used as a generic name for any supposed traitor. Not a nice thing to saddle on a real person, imo.I love Judah, followed by Jude._____________________________________________________________________"You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true."Elinor

I have recently fell in love with Jude, due to SO telling me that he really liked it. But now I'm thinking that I like Judas with Jude as a nn. I like them both equally.

FYIJudas didn't kill Jesus, he betrayed him. And Judah wasn't a place, it was a person. Judea was the place.

Judah, I just think it looks more complete.Leslie edd 4/17/05. Baby should be arriving via c-section April 8th, though.

Definitely Jude. It's the simplest and doesn't sound as stuffy as Judas or Judah in my opinion.

Judah, of course. Jude's too short, and Judas has horrible connotations. Saint Judah, on the other hand, was awesome. And so Judah it is--maybe with the nickname Jude.Array

Jude, naturally. It's fashionable (in some circles anyway) .. thanks especially to Jude Law, but the name's time has simply come, regardless.Judah and Judas are staid and musty conservative old men from the Old Testament of the Bible. (how it feels when I consider using it myself)On the other hand, as far as your children are concerned .. Biblical names do bask a bit in the heroic glow and mainstream approval of their origin; and if that's how you see it, I think Judas or Judah sounds fine. But he's bound to prefer to be called Jude in almost every context, because that's the form that feels current, fresh and "young" to folks right now, imo.- chazdaedited out unnecessary blather

Judas is okay, but it may not sit well with some people because of the Biblical character, and I think Judah is just as nice anyway. Jude is my least favorite; it seems very bland.
