[Surname] Origin of surname Borsian
Looking for the origin and meaning of Borsian. I have been told that it was French----my grandfather's last name. Records, however, indicate his father was from Schlessin, Gernmany. Some say Armenian, but as far as I know there are no Armenian roots in the family.

This surname still exists in Germany, but it is extremely rare:
not more than 10 families in the whole country. Probably it could come from Northern Eastern Germany where slavic influence has been strong.

There are two things I can think of:
BORIS (if there are any Slavonic roots)
BURSA, Dutch "beurs", German "Börse", English "purse" (from Greek "byrsa", fur)
I have also come across the last name BURSIAN, but all of this is just guessing.
