Help[Facts] Eponine
Does anyone know anything at all about this name? Besides the fact that it's a character in Victor Hugo's novel "Les Miserable". I've never been able to find any info on the name and I'm wondering if Hugo just made it up. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Epona was a Celtic horse-goddess - powerful, fertile, beautiful, wild ... quite the little role model!

All I know is that Mme Thenardier (I don't think that's spelled properly, but you know who I mean--Eponine's mother) named both Eponine and Anzelma after characters in romance novels she'd read. I'm not sure where it comes from etymologically, but that's where it came from in the book, I think.
