Help[Opinions] Kirsten
I asked your opinion on the name Kirsten several months ago on here, but now I have another question for you about this name.
Do you think that the religious associations with this name are too strong for it to be used on a girl who is non-Christian (for example, I am not really Christian or any other religion, but don't identify completely as an atheist either) or not? I figure that with Kirsten, the association is not quite as obvious as with some of the Chris/Kris names, but is still there.

I don't associate it with religion or Christianity at all.

I have never thought of any religious associations with Kirstin at all, or even with Christina. The only name that makes me think of religion, is the name Christian itself.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you love the name, that's enough. I know a few Kirstens and I don't think about the meaning of their name.

Chris names have been used so much by the general public that they've lost most, if not all, of their religious stigma. I bet most people wouldn't give it a second thought. I think Kirsten is a nice name.
On a side note, today I saw it spelled Curston. It took me a minute to realize it was Kirsten.
I'm too lazy to think of a clever signature.

Hi there! I really don't think it will occur to anyone that it's strange your child has the name Kirsten when you aren't religious. I think the only time people might wonder is if you named your son Jesus or John the Baptist or something but weren't religious, and they might be mildly surprised if you named your daughter Mary but weren't really religious. Not Kirsten though (or Christopher or Christine). Good luck! :o)
