[Opinions] Re: French names
in reply to a message by alice
My first reaction was: Oh no! The French are now trying too hard. . . . It's those *&#%!)^ Mcdonalds in Paris. I suppose these could be family names that were popular 100 years ago. I do have a secret warm feeling for Hippolyte. It seems every other minor character in a 19th century French or Russian novel was named Hippolyte. Ah, to be a teenage bookworm once again. . . .Ludovine could grow on me. I do like Philomene, Annabelle, Octavie, and Milo. My tastes run to the obscure (English names), particularly medieval saint names, so who am I to judge?

Patron Saints IndexI'm a die-hard atheist, but I adore this site for the names on it: http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/indexsnt.htm.

Igraine is not a saint. She's King Arthur's mother in the medieval tales. That's why I put the disclaimer at the bottom -- that I consider the list as a whole as medieval, more than saint names.
