Help[Opinions] WDYTO Hayden?
I know it's really trendy- that's why I'm a little hesitant about using it. BTW, I would use it for a boy, not a girl. I don't know why I suddenly began to like this- probably because my friend Leah's last name is Hayden. I just really like how it sounds. WDYT?

I love Hayden, but only for a girl. It's tired and too popular on a boy.

I've always liked the name Aidan. Then it became wildly popular after the character on Sex and the City. But I kept my love for the name in spite of that.
Now, the explosion of Hayden, Braden, Caden, Jadyn, etc. has made me give up on "-ayden" names all together. The fact that these names are spelled any old way the wind blows only adds to my dismay. *Sigh* I've even seen these names on polls (although I can't recall the weirdo spellings they used): Slayden and Drayden.
Besides, using other people's heritage as a fn is a pet peeve of mine. For centuries, families passed down their heritage this way and it was a beautiful tradition. Now, who knows? Maybe it is family heritage, but maybe it's just something they came across in a telephone book. Sorry to rant. I'm a picky, picky person and have many pet peeves about names. This one bugs me a little more than the others because it's affecting a beautiful tradition. Are there any surnames from your family tree that you might like to use?

I used to really like this name and while I like many names that are "trendy" and "popular" at the moment and that doesn't bother me at all, this name has sort of been worn out by so much use for me. I just perceive it as boring and nothing too special anymore.

I used to like it, but not so much anymore; it's an "OK" name. It's masculine enough, and somewhat trendy, but not like other names out there. And, thank goodness you like it only for a boy!

I mean, it was just another name in the -aden trend, right? It was trendy, dated, and had a sound I wasn't particularly fond of. It was very 'bleh' to me.
I honestly don't know what happened-- maybe it's all Hayden Christensen's fault (not that I'm a big fan of his, but at least he's a person with the name)-- but my like for the name started to grow, and before I knew it, I really liked it (which I still do). It's not something I would ever use, but it's still nice. I think it has tons of potential.
And, I also like that it's your friend's last name. I think that seems very sweet. :)
