This surname , like Jaso, could have at least four different
origins:
Britain
Spain, namely the northern region of Navarra
Eastern Europe: Poland or Hungary
The only one I can explain you is the spanish one:
It shoud be a Spanish-Basque surname that derives from names of places (the meaning could be "wood".

My last name is also Jasso and my father was Mexican. He once told me that he thought his great grandfaher had been given the name when he moved in with a family during the Mexican Revolutionary War. I was surprised when I looked it up on the Ellis Island website and found that the origin might be Hungarian.

hi i also heard it was hunagairan, lots of hungarians have this last name, but ym granpa told me we cmae with cortez and we r from northern italy, maybe that will help you.
