[Facts] Meaning of Norwegian Name Tallak?
I've been having a tough time trying to track down the meaning of the Norwegian name "Tallak", anyone have any ideas? The closest thing I've found is this website which suggests it may have Cornish origins:http://www.uoregon.edu/~dogsci/retall/surname.htmlTo be honest though, I don't think the Norwegian version is the same, so if anyone has any insights I would appreciate it. Thanks!Jamal

Hi Jamal, you are right, Tallak has got nothing to do with any Cornish words. It's a form of Tollak which comes from the Norse name Torleik. The first part of the name "Tor" comes from the God name "þórr" and that's the most common prefix in Norse names (the God name derives from the Old Norse "þunraR" which is the root for the English word thunder as well. The second part "leik" comes from Norse "leikr" which means "game (with weapons)".Regards, Satu
