[Facts] Re: Mexican!
in reply to a message by Silver
There are quite a few names that I would consider to be "Mexican" because they are names that were originally used by Aztec and Mayan cultures. Being a Central American, I learnt of these, at school and can only remember a few at the moment, such as:
- XOCHITL
f Native American, Spanish
Means "flower" in Nahuatlan. *from behindthename.com*
Pronounced "shosh - e - tl"
- IXMUCANE
f One of the thirteen Maya gods who created human beings.
Proud to say this is a Guatemalan name(central American, but close enough...
Pronounced "ish - mook - a - nai
- BALAM
m Also Mayan Mythology. Means "jaguar"
- KUKUMATZ
m A Mayan sky god, one of the seven gods who created the world and the humans.
Any way, these are names that I have actually know to be given to "real" people... But you can amuse yourself by visiting

Hope it helps. Cheers!
