1. No. The "Tay" sound seems sort of lightweight to me. Not horribly, but that's just my reaction to the sound of it. I wouldn't be repelled by it if I met a guy named that, though; it's nice enough. The pronunciation is a little problematic for me -- the middle T becomes either a D sound or a stop in my accent, usually a stop, giving it a choppy, tough sound.
2. Taton or Tatun. (The Y is unnecessary and looks "trendy" to me)
3. Boy. See my reply to someone else about Carrington for why:

Hiya,I've never heard of Tayton, and I don't like it much. It sounds like a mispronounced Peyton / Payton.
It also reminds me of a little girl I used to babysit, who couldn't pr. my name, which is Caitlin, so
she said Tayton, pr. Tay-tin.What about Treyton / Treyton? I can't remember where I heard that, but it was a little boy, and I think
it's alright.xx Cait xx

I don't care for it. It's too surname-y, and it has a trendy feel to it. I'd only see it on a boy.

1. Not really. I don't care for the sound, and it's very trendy-sounding to me.
2. Tatton (TA-tun) or Taton.
3. Boy only.
