[Opinions] Jethro?
DH (having never shown interest in names before), has suddenly decided that he loves the name Jethro. WDYT? Would you actually name your son Jethro? What mn(s) would you use? Personally, it's nms, but it's growing on me. And, like I said, since he's never shown an interest in names before, I'm loath to criticize. :-) TIA for your opinions. To be born Welsh is not to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth, but with a song in your heart.

Jethro is nms. When my brother and I were kids, we thought Jethro was a funny name (as in funny haha) and decided that when we went to the amusement park we would yell it at the top of the roller coaster. Well, my dad and brother get in the seats in front of me and I had to sit behind them. This teenage guy sits next to me, looks me square in the eye, and says "Hi, I'm Jethro. What's your name?" I had no time to warn my brother, and Jethro was giving me funny looks the whole ride. It was awkward. Just had to share that.

I don't care for it. I think it sounds awkward to the ear.

Well, it'll be associated with Jethro Tull, but that's not really a bad thing, right? It's got an interesting sound and interesting connotations, but as a first name, it sounds very much like it would come from a Satran and Rosencrantz groupie. You know--it's the sort of name that sounds like it would be very carefully picked because it was unusual, and that would make Yuppieboy!Jethro speshul and yuneek. As a middle name, its character doesn't get outshone by that aura of "Look how different it is!" I think it'd be neat; something like Mark Jethro or Vincent Jethro sounds a lot better than Jethro John or Jethro James.Array
